Around here we love a sweet and salty snack combo, and pretzels are one of the best ways to add a savory punch. Cinnamon sugar pretzels are a big favorite, but when we want to make a special holiday treat, we turn to Rolo pretzel bites!

Rolo pretzels have been around ever since I was a kid (maybe longer!) and they’re just as fun to make as I remember.

They only take minutes, and it’s the perfect treat to get your kids in the kitchen with you. Of course, you might need some extra ingredients to make the whole batch last!

Rolo pretzel bites are great for sharing at parties, adding to holiday cookie tins, or just enjoying for a quick sweet snack. Watch them disappear!

Ingredients for Rolo Pretzel Bites

Full list of ingredients with quantities is located in the recipe card.

Four bowls on a white surface, containing pretzels, Rolos chocolates, pecans, and red and green M&Ms, each labeled with text.

You’ll need:

  • Rolo candies
  • Pretzels
  • M&M candies, or
  • Pecans

That’s it! So simple, right?

Ingredient swaps

You can customize these based on the holiday or your flavor preference. Choose different colored M&Ms, or add sprinkles.

Sandwich the Rolos between two pretzels and dip them in melted white chocolate, almond bark, or candy melts.

Instead of pecans, use walnut halves or whole almonds. Flaked coconut is a great combo with the almonds!

Add candy eyes to make reindeer or monsters.

What kind of pretzels do I need?

Rolo pretzel bites work best when you use a pretzel that closely matches the size and shape of the Rolo candy. This way you get full coverage of the melty chocolate on the pretzel.

I prefer to use square or round pretzels. These are labeled as snaps, waffle, or wheel pretzels. Make sure you don’t use the rings, which are circles with empty centers.

During the holidays, star or snowflake pretzels also work well!

How to make this recipe

Preheat the oven to 275°F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. You can also use aluminum foil, but don’t use waxed paper—it will melt!

Arrange whole pretzels in rows on the baking sheet. You should be able to get the whole batch onto one baking sheet, but use two if you need.

kids can help!

Have little helpers sort through the pretzels to find whole pieces, or let them unwrap the Rolo candies. Make sure to wash hands first!

Place one unwrapped Rolo on the center of each pretzel. Once you’ve topped all the pretzels, carefully transfer the baking sheet to the oven.

Bake for 2-3 minutes, until the chocolate is melty and glossy.

Working quickly before the chocolate starts to set again, press another pretzel, a pecan half, or one M&M candy on top of the Rolo, squishing it down to sandwich. You’ll probably get a little chocolate on your fingers so keep a clean towel nearby!

Let the pretzels rest until the chocolate has set. You can pop the tray into the fridge for 5-10 minutes to speed this up, but they’ll set fairly quickly at room temperature.

Storage tips

Around here these Rolo pretzel bites don’t last long, but you can store them safely at room temperature for about 1 week.

Use a lidded metal tin, sealable plastic bag, or any other airtight container. If you’re worried about them sticking together, place a piece of parchment or waxed paper between layers.

They can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer too—they taste great chilled!

While you’re at it, why not make one of our other holiday favorites like graham cracker toffee or peanut clusters?
