Ingredients

  • 2 cups pretzel twists
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening

Instructions

  • Line 1 or 2 baking sheets with parchment or waxed paper and set aside. Sort through the pretzels and replace any broken ones.
  • Pour the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds and stir, then repeat 2-3 times, until almost melted. Stir to melt fully, then add the shortening and stir until smooth.
  • Add a few pretzels at a time to the chocolate. Use a fork to stir carefully and flip, coating the pretzels in chocolate. Lift them out one at a time, gently tapping to let extra chocolate drip back into the bowl.
  • Arrange in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all of the pretzels or chocolate is used. If you like, you can drizzle more chocolate over the tops for a striped effect.
  • Let the pretzels rest until the chocolate is set, chilling in the fridge to speed the process, if you like. Store in an airtight container.
